CLIMATE CHALLENGE CUP

The Climate Challenge Cup is a new international competition to celebrate transformative civic research partnerships in the UK and US between research bodies, civic organizations and local communities to combat climate change.

The Cup culminated in the Innovation Showcase and Awards Ceremony on November 10, 2021 at COP26, the United Nations 2021 Climate Change Conference.

METROLAB NETWORK'S ROLE

MetroLab Network partnered with The Young Foundation and the University of Glasgow to deliver the Climate Challenge Cup. We supported the Challenge with communications and outreach across the United States.

MetroLab Network hosted the virtual Awards Ceremony afterparty; an informal event where participants who attended the Innovation Showcase and Awards Ceremony met to socialize and network after the main event.

PROJECT TRACKS

The Cup celebrates existing partnerships between research organizations, civic authorities, and local communities in the UK and US tackling two categories; achieving net zero and climate change adaptation.

Achieving net zero projects are helping reduce emissions at a local or regional level to achieve net zero.

Climate change adaptation projects are working with communities in regions affected by climate change to mitigate or adapt to the effects it is having.

2021 WINNERS

One winning partnership from each category has won the first ever prestigious Climate Challenge Cup in recognition of their outstanding innovative project which has the potential to be scaled.
