The Civic Innovation Challenge is Underway

The National Science Foundation, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Department of Energy, is now accepting proposals for a new round of the Civic Innovation Challenge (CIVIC). CIVIC is a multi-agency, federal government research and action competition that aims to fund ready-to-implement, research-based pilot projects that have the potential for scalable, sustainable, and transferable impact on community-identified priorities. It aims to flip the community-university dynamic, inviting communities to identify civic priorities ripe for innovation and to then partner with researchers to address those priorities. CIVIC is a 2-stage competition providing 6-month planning grants of $50k in Stage 1 with a downselection to full awards of $1 million over 12 months in Stage 2.

Climate Challenge Cup

The Climate Challenge Cup is a new international competition to elevate and help scale transformative civic research partnerships between research bodies, civic organizations, and local communities to combat climate change.

The Cup will culminate in an innovative showcase and award ceremony during COP26, the United Nations 2021 Climate Change Conference in November.
