MetroLab Network is an international collaborative of 27 cities, 6 counties, and 34 universities focused on civic research and innovation. We were launched by 21 founding city-university pairings in September 2015 as part of the White House’s Smart Cities Initiative, and were housed at Carnegie Mellon University during our initial phase through 2019. We are now an independent 501-c3 organization based in Washington DC, supported by funding from our members, the National Science Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, and a mix of corporate and nonprofit partners.
